Hey, I'm new to the forums and my bad if this topic has been posted. I made this account to get help on my road to an appointment at the Naval Academy. I've got the main idea down but what are inside tips or help that might give me any edge over other applicants? I would like a systems engineering or mechanical engineering degree.
Just some info on me:
Grade: Freshman - high school
GPA: 3.8
science club; secretary
Sports: Varsity Lax, Winter Lacrosse (captain), Varsity Cross country runner
Community Service: So far i only have about 6 hours but I try to tutor and mentor younger kids and help at any local businesses I can.
Record: I've never use(d) drugs, alcohol, or had any police charges.
^ As far as that, a lot of guys I've know since 1st, 2nd grade and are amazing athletes have slipped into drinking and most of them all use drugs. I have no intention of doing that because I want to go somewhere with my life, but they've offered it to me before, i refuse, and then they act like im a d***. Whats up with that?
Thanks for the help. I have thought about the other academies but I've gone to camps at USNA and it has felt like a home to me. The professionalism balanced with humor and the friendships there make it seem that much better. Sorry if this is long or off topic.
Greatly Appreciate the help, Jake
