Hello,
So I know in the military they give out the notorious “birth control glasses” so I was wondering if they did that for the academies..

If not, if someone who went through the academies with glasses could let me know their experience, I’d appreciate it

Thank you

Google “plebe summer” and looks at images. That’ll answer your question.

The Google “plebe year” annd look ant images, and that’ll answer your academic years question.

I do t think they look that bad, myself 🤓

Oh no I just seen😭

Do you have to run and do PEP with glasses on? I only wear glasses/contacts whenever I’m using a computer or when I am at school.

You wear BCGs (they aren't as bad as what they used to be) in PS and you can wear normal glasses/contacts after PS. Nobody is going to make you wear glasses at any point. I had BCGs during PS and I never wore them for PEP. The detailers aren't making a list of who is rocking portholes.

Contacts and civilian glasses are prohibited to prevent them from breaking and with the things you do/are exposed to during PS, putting your finger in your eye is a one-way ticket to pink eye.

Awesome thank you this really helps! I just wanted to make sure the detailers weren't gonna yell at me for choosing not to wear glasses to PEP.

DD was issued BCG at USNA. She wore them when she needed to, stashed them somewhere in her uniform when she didn't. Sometimes they were helpful, other times a nuisance.

Use your best judgment. But whatever you do, don't sacrifice good vision for vanity. No one cares what you look like during plebe summer.
