Hello,
I am entering my junior year and am seriously considering the Coast Guard Academy. But I am having trouble determining if I am academically qualified. I figured out that my unweighted GPA comes out to a 3.7667 but that includes gym and other elective courses. I have heard that over 50% of candidates accepted to the Coast Guard Academy had a high school GPA of 3.75 or higher. My question is whether or not this statistic is based on the entire GPA or just academic courses. If I only count academic courses and foreign language my GPA is about 3.45. I realize this is not the only factor in admission to any college but it is helpful to know if you are on par with the competition, or not even close.
