Good morning all. For those who choose to celebrate the power and the enormity of this day - I wish you all a Happy Easter.

Faith is not about everything turning out OK;
Faith is about being OK no matter how things turn out.

I can't recall who wrote these words, nor where. But I think of these today through the lense of my daughter who is still CPR, and the message our Pastor shared with us in our Easter Vigil last night. Jesus is risen, and is among us. Even during our darkest moments when one believes so much is lost and out of reach, we are not alone. Jesus is risen, and is among us.

Enjoy the day my friends.

I just wanted to tie a few statements that Jesus said in correlation with what is taught at our Service Academies. I’m sure a lot of you know this, but it is always good to remember. In reference to “risen” in terms of bread, Jesus said to be careful of the leaven in our lives. Leaven in this case being pride. He taught us not to be prideful, but to be humble. And that in order to be first, we must be last. Our sons and daughters are about to enter the Academies to be officers and to lead, but first they are going to learn what it means to be humbled. Their pride will be turned into gratitude and any chip on their shoulder will turn into a salute for respect and service. They will learn and live in what service and love truly is.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:5-8‬ ‭

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:45‬ ‭

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I pray for our sons and daughters as they enter the academies and learn these lessons. I pray for wisdom, strength and perseverance in their lives. I also am thankful. I salute that Jesus Christ has risen from the grave, because this gives me such great hope.

I want the Good News everywhere …. Don’t shovel it aside. I want it out in the open. The Word deserves just as much space as Guns and Politics.

Great. Too each their own. There are plenty of sites dedicated to spreading whatever news you see fit. This is (at least I don't think so) not one of them.

PS- In before thread lock ;)

The Chapel on the Yard is very popular …. It doesn’t pertain to “Whatever”. There is a very large contingent of Servants on the yard today.

As long as the word can come from the Quran, the Torah, the Apocrypha, and any other "sacred" text source with equal measure.
Nope—— all of them should be welcome in the off topic forum though. Not on this one.

But if we can push religions we should be able to make fun of religions. Talk about quickly locked threads.

You do realize that politics is a great example of what is not ok on this forum?

So yes I agree with you the word deserves as much space as politics should on this forum.

Although politics is also off limits in the Off Topic forums.

This is irrelevant. There are large contingents of many faiths on the yard, as well as agnostics/atheists. All of that does not change the inappropriateness of the discussion on this forum.

Respectfully request moderator freeze / delete thread.

Could the post just have said Happy Easter and left it at that? Probably. But the part I find ironic is that the complaints about this post is what is keeping it alive. Otherwise, it would have been buried on page 2 at this point.

Exactly. I am loving it 😎 …. You can’t see any “No Trespassing” signs at the entrance to our property. I won’t shoot you if you show up uninvited.

Who knows? You might come in handy. I need help repairing a lot of barbed wire fencing.

I agree with Brewmeist.

Moderators (who are volunteers by the way) don't want to operate with a "heavy hand" on the Forum, but the tendency to create friction when none is intended is a growing trend that may force the mod team to respond with "excess force."

No wonder no one wants to be a cop anymore.

I assure you the mod team is reviewing this thread. In the meantime, I suggest that everyone refrain from posting anything further on this thread that could be inflammatory.

Thanks AROTC-dad for stepping in. If you wish, I can post in a different thread why nobody wants to be a LEO anymore (I retired last year), but I think it will be at the very least just as equally divisive.
