Hello. My DD will be reporting for swab summer on July 1st. So awesome!!!! Anyway, I will not be able to make Parent's Weekend. However, is there a chance a 4/c will be given overnight liberty after the Homecoming Football Game on October 19th? If so, when do they normally have to be back at the academy, historically? Thanks in advance.

I don't remember if 4/c's were offered overnight liberty after the game. I do remember that were required to attend the game, and were at least granted some liberty afterwards, but not sure about the overnight. They can always request an overnight, but it does depend on whether they have duty, or sport commitments. Generally 2200 hours is when they need to be back after leave/liberty. You generally can bring food to the academy and hang out with your cadet if they can't leave.

If you’re a little flexible, the weekend prior is Columbus Day weekend and they get a long for that. It’s basically liberty all weekend with overnights.

Thanks for idea!!!! I’m just trying to find the best non-parent weekend to see my 4/c. Essentially, looking for the most time I can get.

Your DD will have to be a big part of this schedule as the dates get closer. Stay flexible in your planning since she is not guaranteed to be free. As @TriMom64 pointed out, if she plays a fall sport, if she has duty, or something else comes up she might be stuck on site. Semper Gumby, Always Flexible, welcome to the service.

Speaking of football schedules, has anyone seen the 2024 schedule? If so, can you point me in the right direction. It's not under USCGA Athletics for some reason. Thanks!

We always go Columbus Day weekend because it gives extra time. We often do not attend parents weekend and just go for when they have more free time on Columbus weekend.

Also, do some 4/c cadets get a "Long" weekend over Labor Day Weekend?
Yes, they should get a long over Labor Day. It's a nice time to visit as it's pretty much the first good opportunity after swab summer being over. Again, keep in mind duty, other obligations, etc. However, our daughter never had a problem switching duty with others to accommodate any visits we've made.

Thanks for that information!!!!!
