For those of you that have been accepted, how long did it take you to receive your LOA after you submitted it? I just submitted mine today and am hoping to hear back soon. Thanks for your help.

    FeatheGoat,

You may be using the wrong term. If you've received an LOA, there's nothing that will happen until you meet the standard for appointment listed in the LOA. The letter will state that an appointment to the Naval Academy is subject to receipt of one or more items, including but not limited to a nomination, completing your medical, CFA or some other item.

Once you satisfy the requirement, you should be sent an appointment package within two to three weeks.

    Best of Luck,

If you just submitted your packet today, don't expect an LOA. The first thing you would likely hear is an appointment. I sent mine in between Christmas and New Years last year and got a call during class from my senator saying I got an appointment. Most LOA's are to keep people who the school wants to accept interested while the things that are out of your control get finished (ie med waivers or noms). They're to tell you everything is ok until they can give you the official thing. However, in your case they will be able to say yes or no to an actual appointment by the time they get around to looking at it.

Realistically, unless you have a competitive nomination, eg, Presidential, you are not likely to receive an offer of appointment until after the first of the year when the congressional noms are reported to USNA. Also, consider that prior to the first of the year packet reviews are performed typically one day a week whereas after the first of the year (mid Jan) the packets normally are reviewed two days a week.

BTW, remember to keep the information in your packet updated with grades, achievements, etc. If you don't tell them, likely they won't know about the changes.

    1964BGO,
Thanks for the info. Is the best way to update them with new information by e-mail, phone call, or some other way. And I'm glad you said something about that I probably wouldn't have thought to do that, thanks!
