Hello every one!
I am currently a junior looking to apply to West Point for class of 2020 and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice based on my resume as it is now as far as what my weaknesses are and how to improve them! Any and all responses are very much appreciated!
Academics:
Class Rank: 1 of 65 (I come from a very small school)
GPA: 4.236
SAT Critical Reading- 720, Math- 640, Writing- 670
Honors Classes: Honors English 9 and 10 (also in the "harder" math classes- geometry (9th) and alg-trig(10)- though they are not considered "honors")
Weighted/Advanced and AP Classes: 10th- Advanced Biology, AP Biology Independent Study, and Anatomy/Physiology
11th- Precalculus, Adv. Chem, AP English Language, AP US Gov and Politics, AP US History
Next Year (most likely)- Physics, AP Chem, AP English Literature, AP Calculus, AP Psychology
Leadership/ECA:
United States Academic Decathlon team member (4 years total)- So far, 6 time medalist at the regional and state competitions. I've held the Secretary position 10th and 11th grade, and mostly will hold an officer position next year.
Student Council representative since 7th grade, currently the treasurer.
National Honor Society since 10th grade, currently the Secretary
Member of the chess club and competition team- two first place team wins and co-vice president 10th and 11th.
Member of the math club and competition team- 10th and 11th (first place team finish)
Current Vice-President of the Junior Class
Co-Founder of my school's Red Cross Club
Member of Future Teachers of America (2 years), Reading Competition (3 years), Foreign Language Club (4 years), Science Olympiad (4 years)
Athletics:
Jr Varsity Volleyball 10th grade
Varsity Softball 9-12th grade (Will *most likely* letter 4 times)
2nd team all conference pitcher in 10th grade
I have a high likely-hood of being captain 12th grade and possibly this year
Played on a tournament team 9th and 10th grade summers
I have numerous volunteer hours: pitching lessons, tutoring, hospital, student council and NHS activities, church, and community dinners/events
I understand that it is impossible to truly tell me if I have a chance of getting accepted into West Point, however any advice is welcome as to test scores, ECAs, APs, etc. It is my dream to attend USMA and any advice will be fully appreciated!! Thank you for taking the time to read this!
