I am in a very unique and difficult place

So yesterday I was awarded a three-year scholarship to Pepperdine University and Baylor, and I was awarded a four-year scholarship to Princeton. This is where things start getting funky, I know that I can accept the 4-year scholarship to Princeton and immediately change it over to Pepperdine and have a pretty good chance of the scholarship transfer being accepted. But if I Transfer to Pepperdine and then, later on, I get into Princeton. Then I have no ability to do ROTC at Princeton (at least with the original scholarship). Or I can accept the Princeton one and wait for their decisions to come out. If I get in its simple, I got to Princeton, but if I don't, there is a bigger chance that my scholarship won't transfer. Now one thing to keep in mind about my Princeton application is that BOTH my parents attended undergrad there, and they volunteer for the school a lot. Also, I attend a military school that has a good track record w/ Princeton. But regardless of this, no one is guaranteed to get into Princeton.

Ugh, I thought once I won the scholarship everything would be great but now I'm more stressed than ever.

Take the 4Y to Princeton. Think of it like a decision matrix. If you get in to Princeton you're all set. If you don't, then you still have a chance to transfer it. If you can do a full transfer, great. But maybe they'll only let you transfer down to a 3Y (don't know if that's a thing, but I guess it might be), then you are no worse off. Worst case, you don't get in to Princeton AND can't transfer the scholarship at all. Well, enroll at Pepperdine or Baylor and earn a 3Y, which I'm confident you could do if you are at least in the window for Princeton.

That's my advice.

Why do you think the scholarship transfer will be accepted? Transferring between Brigades is not always so cut and dry. The money allocated to your scholarship from the BDE that Princeton is in will be the same money that is used at Pepperdine. Brigades are not so flush with money these days that they will spend their money to make another brigades mission. Hopefully, you are working on inside information that they will transfer your scholarship.

i spoke to the recruiter at the host school for Pepperdines ROTC (UCLA). They said since the third board isnt out yet there is a good chance that it will transfer

I would say accept the 4-year at Princeton. It may not be a sure thing, but I think it is a good bet that if that doesn't come through, the transfer will work. My daughter had a difficult decision to make on a transfer as well. She wanted to do varsity athletics + ROTC but it wasn't until she started visiting schools that she found that in D1, these two activities might not be very compatible. This was not the case for the D3 schools she looked at but the problem was that she did not include any of these D3 schools in her application so she would have to get a transfer. Then, the deadline for having to put down a non-refundable deposit passed before her transfer came through so she had to take a chance that it would and eventually it did. The recruiters seem to have a good idea what is likely to happen because they deal with this all the time. While they can't guarantee anything, I would trust their advice.

@vfma2020 ,

The first thing I would do is sent a copy of your notification to Princeton. It may not make a difference; a point often debated on this forum. If I were you I would want them to know that they are indeed your first choice and OBTW you are holding a check for >$200K that you are ready to sign over to them.

Best of Luck!

Accept the 4 year to Princeton and transfer if necessary. This is hardly very unique and difficult. It happens all the time. No worries.
