I am a candidate for 2024 and heard that there is a fitness test during I-Day. Is this true? If so, what does the I-Day fitness exam consist of?

If that exists, it’s new and I’ve never heard of it. There is however a mock PRT done a day or two after I-Day. Maybe that’s what you’ve heard. It’s just a run, pushups, and now a plank. It doesn’t count for anything, just do your best.

I have never heard that. Unlikely that it is on I-Day. USNA has enough to do, in processing 1000 new Plebes in one day. That said, Kierkegaard is correct..they will do initial PRT testing early in the Summer.. This establishes a baseline for further evaluation. My advice is to report in shape and ready to do the PRT from Day 1...this is a great opportunity to establish a good first impression with the Detailers, as well as avoid negative attention.

I-Day has an informal PRT. It entails moving constantly in 90 degree heat, 90 percent humidity, wearing stiff whiteworks, up and down steps while hauling (sometimes pulling on wheels — West Pointers, hold the barbs) a large and heavy duffel bag, with almost no time for nourishment beyond lukewarm water in your new plastic canteen. It all ends with a ragged yet poignant march into Bancroft Hall, after which you still have a few more hours of physical movement before dropping exhausted on your rack. The fun resumes approximately 5:30 the next morning.

I-Day is packed full with in processing, medical exams, and equipment issue. No fitness testing.
