I just got accepted so what now?

As a prior enlisted who had the opportunity to go this route but went a different direction in life, here is what I would do…. Stop worrying for a day or 2 and CELEBRATE!! Congratulations!!
 
First of all congrats and know that every Preppie is proud to be a Preppie and you will have a club within the club when you get to The Hill. One of my DS is a Preppie and he loved it and wouldn't change a thing. You will surprised how many proud Preppies are out there and "Once a Preppie, always a Preppie". For what happens next, your portal will update with instructions and you will get the Appointee Instruction handbook to follow and get ready. As DW8Ch says above, take some time to relax, destress and celebrate your accomplishment. Spend time with family and friends because you won't see them for a while after I-Day. Just stay in front of all the instructions in your portal and follow the timelines. Congrats again and enjoy the ride. There will be lots of Preppies on The Hill and some will be instructors on your BMT so enjoy the connection and make the most of this great opportunity.

thanks, I will definitely take the weekend to celebrate! Can I ask why you didn’t take the opportunity?

Sure. It’s not a very deep explanation. I was in the Marines and was offered a spot in Platoon Leaders Class at the end of my enlistment. I had never even considered college and was planning on focusing on a trade after separation. I gave it some thought but ultimately said thanks but no thanks Sir! I’ve got this all figured out!

Fast-forward about 20- something years, trade school, night school and I think, wow, what an opportunity I was presented with. Don’t get me wrong, I have no regrets, just looking back I realize what an awesome opportunity that was and now having a son that wants to join the officer ranks in the AF ( which is why I’m on here) is somewhat ironic. So congrats again, love seeing prior enlisted get appointed. Enjoy your weekend!
 
You will most likely report the first week of July, a week before the non-enlisteds. Your paper work is a lot less than theirs. They will use you in a leadership capacity. Congratulations! It is an amazing experience and a terrific accomplishment!
 
AND you will receive a nice certificate, in a dark blue, leather-like cover in the mail sometime between NOW and August. Hopefully, it will arrive in time to sufficiently show off before you leave. Again, congrats Preppie!
 
Be sure to post it to the USAFAPS 2025 thread! I called admissions a bit ago and they said that portal info and packets will be sent out soon.
