Hello. We are trying to make plans to attend IBOLC graduation ceremony at Fort Moore. We are planning to fly into Atlanta the afternoon of the day before the service. Can anyone share any feedback as to staying in/near Columbus or driving from Atlanta for the graduation service and spending the weekend in Atlanta. Appreciate all insights. Thank you!

Make time for the abovementioned National Infantry Museum.

Also, if it doesn't interfere with the graduation schedule, try Minnie's Uptown (i.e., downtown) Restaurant for the best cafeteria-style fried chicken lunch ever.

We flew into ATL and drove the back roads to Columbus. GA Rte 85 to Warm Springs and US 27ALT to Columbus.

I can't remember the town, but we stopped at the first small town diner/cafe along the way with a Cracker Barrel type menu. Further South we stopped at a cover bridge at Red Oak Creek (South of Gay) and then for peach ice cream at Fitzgerald's Fruit Shed. We drove around, but did not tour the historical site in Warm Springs, where FDR convalesced, and eventually died.

In Columbus we had an unremarkable dinner at a chain restaurant. The next day we had lunch at what must have been Columbus's largest Mexican grocery. This was DS's request after Ranger School Graduation. He ordered almost everything on the menu. Then we met some of his pals at the Chattabrewchee Southern Brewhouse.

Pro Tip: Get your gate pass the day or evening before graduation to avoid the crowd.

Wasn't sure where to post this request. I'm trying to find out the time of IBOLC graduation for this Friday at Fort Moore. My son says he doesn't know yet and my family wants to attend. I have zero information. If anyone has information they can share, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!

Hello JulieJ. We were told 10AM at Doughboy Stadium on Friday. We took Infantry_Dad's advice and applied for visitors pass early. Received approval back by text in less than 12 hours. Enjoy the graduation!

I finally got the time and place from my son… on Tuesday!! I’m having a hard time with no information but learning!! I registered online for a visitors pass and got my approval text back. Do you know if we still need to stop at the visitor’s center for a pass before entering the gates? Thank you so much. My son is infantry also.

Yes, you still need to stop at the visitor's center to get your pass or print your pass out at the kiosk there.

If looking for pics of the various events for IBOLC graduation at Fort Moore copy and paste the following into Facebook or Insta's search window.
the social media for the unit will be posted shortly after each event. Usually numerous pics of the 2LT's and families.

Thank you all for the great advice! Excellent ceremony at IBOLC 0923 Dagger Company graduation on Friday. Sorry to miss your last question before we left JulieJ but hope you had a wonderful weekned with your 2LT.

After the ceremony, we spent several hours inside the National Infantry Museum and walked the beautiful Museum grounds (just awesome). We enjoyed several of the recommended restaurants over the weekend (thanks a ton Infantry_Dad!) and while touring Ft. Moore on Saturday, 2LT surprised us with fun stops at the golf course range and recreational shooting range. We had zero prior shooting experience but the team at the Rec Range was super friendly, informative, safe, and helpful.

Can't wait to visit again as 2LT continues with the next series of training and growth. Thank you again for the great advice!
