If accepted does the USNA present anything to my DS at his high school?

Right now I would be thrilled with just an e mail of acceptance! But am wondering....How does that work with presentations? I know NROTC comes with a big fake check at high school awards ceremonies and I have seen some you tube videos of kids being presented with their appointment folders at their graduation ceremonies. How does one get that opportunity if you don't live near the East coast?

Don't think the USNA does anything other than to send the BFE (appointment folder). My DS was asked by the local MOC to appear at his Service Academy info fair where he was presented a congressional recognition certificate for his appointment.

BGOs can present an appointment paper at an awards ceremony and have a nice canned 3-5 minute presentation speech available to them. So can a staffer from the nominating Congressperson/Senator's office but first they have to even know about the ceremony. Who would tell them? And Candidates have an amazing ability to forget everybody who has been involved in their process as soon as they are through with the interviews. School counselors can present the appointment too. Having said that, many BGOs cannot or do not attend long high school award ceremonies depending on their own personal schedule and distances and time involved. Others would love to do it. It certainly would be OK to call and ask the BGO to do the presentation and graciously accept whatever they can or cannot do. As a for instance, my schools are 200+ miles away from my home and I do not make any presentations as a matter of policy. I travel enough just to give info sessions earlier in the year.

I just learned today our local BGO will be at awards night to present appointments.

Made me wonder, my son is likely to get two appointments, one Navy and one AF. Wonder how that will work out if he hasn't comitted to one yet.

If he can also get to girls to fight over him on the stage that same night they could do a comedy movie. It will be perfect.

Isn't the high school awards ceremony usually at the end of the school year? It makes sense to have it then when the college application and acceptance process for the senior class is complete. At least for my kids it has always been held within a week of their actual graduation in early June.

The deadline is typically May 1st. Most candidates will know from January-April. There are always a handful of candidates who don't know by then. Not sure when his awards night will be, but hopefully his offers have come in already and he has made his decision. And if they haven't or he hasn't made a decision by his awards I would honestly have 1 presentation and mention both schools. Honestly this is an issue a long ways from now and might not even be one. BGOs and ALOs would work it out between them.

I expect he'll have it worked out by then, but not sure. I can't recall our awards date, but it's fairly early.
