I am a USAR prior service applicant hoping to go to USMA with my CO's nomination. I enlisted at 17 and since then have earned various marks with training, and my unit. I have the top APFT score in my unit, was Honor Graduate at both BT and AIT, and have a spotless record so far.

I am concerned about the high school record. I have a 3.84 Weighted GPA, was somewhere in the 10%-20%, and have an ACT of 29 (SAT was 1760ish). (If it matters, I have a 96 ASVAB). I took a total of 7 AP classes in high school, and passed them all, but never truly excelled in terms of academics. I held several leadership positions in high school too.

In my situation, do you recommend I retake the ACT or SAT? How much would it weigh for prior service applicants?

All the service academies use the ACT as a predictor of your success. It is extremely important. Go to the prep courses---there are free ones and paid ones on the internet---study, take it again and keep doing the process until your scores just won't go any higher. The nice thing about the ACT is that everybody improves with study and repetition and it is something that you can control. Good luck----this is all part of the work to get in.

Thanks, spud. The Army actually has free ACT courses for soldiers, and will finance as many retakes as the soldier wants. I will be taking advantage of those resources!

You sound like a competitive prior service applicant. Contact the Soldier recruiting team as soon as possible and get that CO endorsement signed.

Even with an ACT of 29?
And I will do so very soon. Thank you for the support.

They will ask you to keep taking it probably, you still sound competitive. Get in touch with the admissions team and they will give you the actual assessment.
