Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

All photos of bacon in all forms are thoroughly in keeping with the rules established by the SABF.

Ya … lately I’ve been putting Bacon over massed-up microwave potatoes … then pouring A1 sauce over it …

It’s real tasty …

I’ll post a picture of the concoction … and I’ll have to think-up some new bacon creations for the Holidays

Are those potatoes Catholic? :p

I love A1 on baked or mashed potatoes. I have been doing that since the 60's. Thought I was the only one, though!

Was in the Annapolis NEX scooping up some Black Friday weekend deals on a quiet Saturday just before closing. [Scored a set of Viking stainless mixing bowls with lids for $29.99, compared to Sam’s $39.99, other places $49-$75. Replaces ancient, beat-up pitted bowls which will retire to the gardening bench.]

Whilst cruising the holiday food aisles…

Who’s been very, very good this year?

Rosalynn Carter’s 'Plains Special' Cheese Ring

Dust off the ring mold languishing in the back of your kitchen cabinet, and get it ready to make this no-bake cheese ring that comes together in just minutes.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans (almonds, walnuts, etc.)
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 1 pinch black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • Bacon jam

Directions
  1. Mix together cheese, nuts, mayonnaise, onion, and both peppers in a mixing bowl.
  2. Transfer mixture to a 5 or 6 cup ring mold.
  3. Chill overnight, or until the cheese ring is firm.
  4. Just before serving, un-mold the ring onto a plate.
  5. Fill the center of cheese ring with bacon jam.
  6. Serve with Ritz bacon-flavored crackers. (Triscuits are good too)

Oh my! Memories of church socials right there. The onion would be a Vidalia sweet onion, only about 120 miles between Vidalia and Plains.

Or - make your own bacon crackers. So good. Having fun scouring the iPhone Food folder and its happy links.

I bought two (2) bags of crumbled bacon at Sam's Club yesterday. Thought of all my bacon buddies here.:D

The 2nd Lt. is coming home to visit, but I have this and plenty of the Wright thick-cut stuff. I think I'm good. :)

Not sure this is quite up to snuff for this thread but, for T-day this year, my brother contributed a smoked venison ham. Not sure we'll ever do turkey again.
