The INSPIRE program is a wonderful opportunity for parents and applicants. It is an all expense paid trip for your student and one parent to visit the Naval Academy. There are talks for the parents chock full of information and you can get your questions answered during those talks. Your kid will get to shadow a midship and sleep in the dorm for a night. There is a tour around campus and shopping at the Mid Store. There is also an opportunity for your child to take the CFA which I highly recommend doing since it will be one more check mark completed on your application. There is a meet and greet where your student can talk to midshipmen and professors. At the banquet there were midshipmen sitting at the tables so your kid can get to talk with them. At the banquet they encourage the kids to get their applications in early and they awarded two LOAs that night. DS was one of those lucky recipients. It will be something he never forgets.

Very cool! I've had a few students attend INSPIRE and many more attend CVW. Both are great programs to expose students to USNA and the lifestyle of a midshipmen. Good to hear to your son now has an LOA. However, as you know, he will have to go through the entire process to earn the appointment so the journey is just starting. It is a great start!

Thankfully he receive an appointment and we are excited for the next stage of his journey. 🙂

Im attending inspire this thursday but im not ready for the cfa at all, as in I would get a failing score. I’ve only been training so far for a month and a half so I can do some but not enough for it to be considered passing. What do you suggest I do? Take the Cfa anyways or wait for later?

I would take it. Even if you don’t report the scores, you’ll have a better idea for how they score it and it will make the next time you take it less stressful. I’d assume it’s like sitting for a mock ACT /SAT just to get used to it.

Does everyone take the cfa together at once? Sounds stupid but I dont want people see me absolutely fail 😂

Yes. Usually when you take a CFA at the Academy you have others around you. Totally agree with what was said above. When I did my CFA during summer seminar, I was not ready and expected very low scores. It was actually much more helpful to have that community of everyone taking it together, plus the mids around you are also all encouraging.

@Navyaddict I wouldn’t worry about failing in front of everyone. As Jocko Willink says “good!” It’s an opportunity to learn and prepare for the next test. My DS said taking the test with others helped because the other candidates motivate and cheer you on. Even though he already passed the CFA, he took it at INSPIRE to see if he could do better and he did. Take every opportunity that is available to you. Look up Stew Smith on YouTube. He has training on the different elements of the CFA.
