I received notice that my application has not yet gone before the board. Is this normal?

Here's the message: "The reason you have not received notification is- your file has not yet gone before the board! When it does- you will receive a notice on your portal under the official correspondence."

My mom is worried and thinks it is not normal that my file has not gone before the board but overs have. Does this mean anything? My file has been complete since October 1.

Deep breaths. This is a long process. In most cases, your application will not go before the admissions board until you are triple qualified and you have a nomination. Initially, your application is reviewed by your RC to determine whether you are academically, medically and physically qualified. Your Whole Candidate Score is calculated at this time. Then, your application is reviewed by another person in admissions (likely anothe RC) to quality check your RC's assessment and calculation of your WCS. Remember, with few exceptions the admissions board will not consider your file for an appointment without a nomination. No nomination, no appointment. Not triple qualified, not considered for a appointment. Unless you have a principal nomination or it is clear that you won your congressional slate, you are in for a long wait, assuming you are triple qualified and have a nomination.

The next post you can expect on your portal from USMA admissions is a nomination (assuming you get one) or a letter informing you that you are triple qualified--or not, which then means the application process is over for you. Remember, the majority of triple qualified candidates receive the dreaded QNS (qualified but not selected) letter from USMA admissions, which is why folks on this board constantly tell candidates to have plans b-z in place.

Good luck and keep the faith. You are still in the running, until USMA admissions tells you differently, but currently you have no choice but to remain patient.

This is normal. They can only review a limited number of files each week and file completion is only part of the equation. Unlike many civilian universities, USMA does not hire outside readers to qualify files. There are a few instances where a file might be reviewed sooner, but it is likely you do not fall into one of those categories.

Okay, thank you for explaining this, I really appreciate it. I have received a nomination, but it has not appeared on my portal yet. I figure my MOC hasn't submitted the slate.

So would they not determine if I am 3Q until my nomination is sent to them?

My RC directed me to contact his assistant (I'm assuming that's what she is)

The board meets every Tuesday to make selections until the deadline is reached. During the days of "rolling admissions", those who were selected and meet all of the requirements were offered an appointment. Now that rolling admissions is not practiced, a candidate will be notified in "waves". The first wave is about the middle of February. When the board meets, it is with a minimum of two RCs who have reviewed the candidates file. They make their selection based on a number of factors to meet class composition goals. The key word is "goals" not quotas. This is why its so very important to finish your file early because your file could be reviewed multiple times. The process is very complicated governed by rules to make the selection fairest to meet the Army needs.

Please remember, if you received a appointment and you received NOM it is all conditional.

Wow! The first time I have ever left off my annoying signature "Push Hard, Press Forward" on the above post! It's mainly for me to remind my self to progress in learning, understanding others and promote a positive attitude.
