January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

And miss the opportunity to start the March 8, 2011 AROTC Board thread??
Well patentesq, ranked, here's what I want:
1. Probably sort-of most likely good news status change message.
2. Start March 8, 2011 AROTC Board thread.

What will probably happen:
I'll start the March 8, 2011 AROTC thread. Then go through the same motions and then hopefully get the golden status change message.

I'm optimistic, even if this post doesn't show it lol.

I plan to hang around. Like many of us, I'm on a personal mission to see Ohio2015Parent climb over that wall (reference to the movie "Officer and a Gentleman"). And you, too.

Haven't seen it, maybe because it was made before I was born :shake:. But if it's a good movie, I'll watch it!

And I'm hoping that everyone on this board who hasn't receive a scholarship yet will receive one.

You must see Officer and a Gentleman. You've got some time to kill, right? Other good ones from that time: any Police Academys, Back to the Future-any, Lethal Weapon-any, goodness, I know there are more....great 80's flicks with hair you will not believe really happened....

Couldn't do another month without you. Who's gonna post links to all the good government BS? I've added CNN daily, with all this extra time I think the Hill will be my next one to work into rotation.

jlar316...you have to watch it! I just bought it for my DS. He has never seen it either. I think he's purposely not opening it. It's a good movie. At least I thought it was back in the 80's.

Damn the statement "You have been selected for an interview..." couldn't they mix it up, at least for my entertainment value?!
I'll be here or on the next thread with you OhioParent, jlar316 and others still waiting. We fully hope to 'see' some of you others stick around, or at least check in on us
I'm headed out for a Friday night on the town with friends...putting off saying anything to DS until tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after:frown:

so is this board over now or does it still have one more day or something?

I think Jcleppe said October board took 4 days until the dust settled. We are currently on Day 2 for the January board. (Jcleppe didn't specify "business" days or "calendar" days).

Everyone! The word is out!

i just received a call that i got the 4 year army rotc scholarship. so the word is out. i have a full ride to Virginia tech!

Those are all excellent movies that you mentioned. I have to say the Lethal Weapon series may be the greatest inspiration to hair ever created. Back to the Future is a classic also. Love the part when Doc wears a bulletproof vest for the upcoming meeting with the terrorists. I'll be here with you all next round as well. Neither my classmate nor I have received a magical change in the status...well that's life. I remain optimistic for everyone on this board because it shows you all care. Scholarship or not, as it's been said before, caring is what matters. My view is, I have to graduate anyway. So waiting for the news while I'm working on that preliminary goal is no big deal.

dodmerb question

My DS has been going through the waiver process for the USMA for over a year and was informed by phone two weeks ago that he was waivered for all medical issues by the USMA. This was confirmed with DODMERb in a follow up phone call. However, he has not received anything in writing from anyone. I was given conflicting information. DODMERB said in one call that a waiver by the USMA automatically meant a waiver for ROTC. I was informed today that this is not accurate and ROTC has its own waiver process. Can anyone offer clarification here? We have been to one specialist after the other at West Point's expense and all the results were waiver, waiver, waiver by physicians West Point sent us to. Now that his status changed to "Check with DODMERB" in the ROTC scholarship site, I don't know what to expect. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

TrpRMom, you should email Mr. Mullen: Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil. He regularly urges SAF members to take things offline and requires name and SSN. He is wonderful and is the guy who can help.

In going through the process last year for DD, it was my understanding that USMA and AROTC have separate waiver processes and that it is possible to be waived by one and not the other (however, I'm not sure how likely that is). The same holds true for other branches. Larry Mullen on the DODMERB forum can provide the definitive answer.

Congrats, today I found out that I got the 4 year scholarship to VT as well! Do you know how many other scholarships they've gotten?
