January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

Can you send me a pm explaining the process for transfer? I'm in the same boat as you.

This is from an email that I received last year with this exact same question. Now this was for last year, so only Cadet Command can really say what the process is this year.

"Yes, you can request to transfer your scholarship. You have to have been accepted to the school you want to transfer to and they have to have an open allocation. If you have been accepted, we will need a copy of that acceptance."

Now whether or not CC is willing to do transfers prior to the next board offers are made is something that only they know.

My suggestion would be to wait until you have the offer in hand. Until you have that offer in hand, Cadet Command does not consider it an official offer. Once you do, get in touch with your contact at Cadet Command and inquire about this. They will tell you the procedure for this year. If you are in contact with the school that you wish to use the scholarship at, have a good relationship with them and have been accepted there, maybe you can see if there is anything that they can do to help.

If our son was told by his first choice school to expect a letter, am I correct in assuming that letter are only sent to scholarship recipients this round, since there is one more round to go?

Your assumption would be correct. Did the first choice school that called say that the letter was an offer from their school. You can call the ROO and they should tell you if the offer was from their school.

Congratulations to your son.

The fat lady has sung. Congradulations to all the January board winners, hope all of you will hang out to see how 2011 finishes out with the March board.

The support, information and advice shared here has been amazing. Thank you to all of you, see you on the March board thread.

Take care.
Thank you Ohio. This thread has made this whole process much easier and understandable to many of us.
Tomorrow is March already!! Hopefully not so long to wait this time around:thumb: That is the silver lining.

HELP.

I was informed by a ROO I contacted that I was offered a 4-yr scholarship, but to two schools I did NOT apply to (one of which I had never and would never consider). Are my only options to either attempt to gain admission to one of these schools or turn down the scholarship?

The ROO said I wasn't assigned to Auburn because they didn't have a demand for nurses this year. Is it possible to change my major so I can attend the school of my choice? Is it possible to try to have CC change the schools I've been assigned?

Any information would be greatly appreciated :(

Thanks for your answer! Now I guess we just have to wait for the good ole US Post Office!

Are you talking about an Army ROTC scholarship?

We shall persevere together knowing we endured the second board process and can certainly make it through until the end.

DS does a modified bear crawl on the ice, he drags himself the length of the ice using only his upper body while moving his stick back and forth to propel himself. Those bear crawls, although brutally difficult, have made him very strong. Similarly, these days of waiting will also create within us a strength that will carry us along.

I remember last year toward the end of the boards that some applicants were given offers that were not on their list of schools. I believe the schools that were listed had reached their quotas for scholarships but the applicants were strong enough that CC gave offers to schools that had not reached their quota.

It seems odd that this would happen on the second board given that there seem to be more offers in the pipeline.

Was your application designated a Nursing Option Scholarship. I am not sure you can change your major now since the offer has been given. I would contact the ROO's at the schools you did list right away and see what they say. See if there is a possibility to accept the scholarship and then transfer it to another school. If you read through this thread there has been a lot written on the transfer process, it is not a given that transfers will be granted but it would be worth a conversation with the ROO's.

I would not waste any time getting in touch with them, you only have 30 days to accept or decline the offer.

Good Luck

SMP

Anyone have information on SMP. We are looking for information for plan B if the march board does not offer scholarship for our DS. Pros and Cons would be greatly appreciated. Also, if the SMP was for Guard or reserves?

SMP can be used for Guard or Reserves. I would re-post this as a new thread, your question may get lost in the shuffle of this thread. I would imagine this thread will soon become less active as applicants start to focus on the next board.

Check out Clarkston College ROTC Bolg, if you google that you should find it. He has some great information regarding SMP on his blog.

I would suggest that since the ROTC forum has grown, start an SMP thread. You might get lost in the mix of this thread/

Thank you. I have done that. Hope to receive some valuable information.

If you search the forum, there has been a lot discussed about SMP already,Link
SMP is to short a term for the search engine, try a search for "Simultaneous Membership Program" Link
