January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

There wasnt a February board at all. There was just the January board
I'm a new mom on here but wanted to share that I was told on the phone by my son's liaison administrator at AFROTC the he was reviewed in the Februry board. I know that he was not reviewed in the January board b/c he did not submit his application until Jan 14th. He was definitely reviewed in Feb.

The scholarship status page has been changed from "You may check your DoDMERB status" to "You have been offered a scholarship to -" for my son indicating he has been awarded a scholarship to his #2 choice school. Anyone who hasnt heard from an ROO may want to check the status page.

vamom, this is a forum about the January Army ROTC board and not the AFROTC board so the information you are relaying/looking for will not be relevant. You may want to find a forum on the AFROTC boards or refer to Pima for further info:thumb:

Our DDs status has changed to show the school she is being offered the scholarship to. It is her first choice school, a state university. We are so very happy and PROUD. Congratulations to all!

Congrats, I bet by the time all of your kids leave in Aug/Sept this thread will be 3K strong re:posts.

Our son's status was updated today notifying him he received a scholarship to Norwich University, pending medical review. Norwich is his number one choice. Lots of smiles in this house and VERY happy for him. Awaiting official paperwork but this was confirmed with Norwich yesterday. Congratulations to all who get positive updated status reports today.

Good morning all~ My DS was awarded a 4 yr to Norwich as well. Very excited since it was his #1! Now we just need to keep these children all bubble wrapped! It does appear that even though he was accepted to the other SMC's- Citadel, VMI, NGCSU- it was only awarded to Norwich but thank the Lord it was his #1 choice because he is thrilled! So exciting! :shake:

Happiness

Our son's status also changed to show his #1 choice; he is so happy. It doesn't indicate 3 or 4 year though.

Congrats! Glad to hear the lack of information you were receiveing was not a major problem. Of course the 3-year vs. 4-year hasn't been settled, but at least he didn't get an offer at a school that wasn't on his list (which has been known to happen).

DS status now finally shows which college...Rutgers University. I think this was his number 2 or 3 school. I just sent him a text at school to let him know. Congrats to all!

Congratulations, Rutgers is an amazing school.....I wish him well.

GO Jersey! I agree RU is a great college, one of the best state schools in the mid-atlantic region. As a Jersey girl, the only problem I ever had with RU is that they don't have a true campus.

They do have great strombolies though!

thank you! Somehow I got lost in the "thread following". I'm back on track now. Good luck to everyone!

DS received an e-mail from his #2 school stating that their school received NO second round scholarships. This is a fairly large state school that usually receives quite a few.....

Got it

Just saw the status chnge to scholarship to Georgia Tech. Now we just have to wait to see if he's accepted to GT. Should know March 18th. GT is his #1 school and even if not accpeted will work towards transferring in. DS is probably on the bottom 25% of acceptance with a 26ACT and 3.4 unweighted GPA. May need some advice in a couple of weeks, but for now we'll pat him on the back and wait. Thanks to all for the advice, I should be an expereinced parent for the next child if this is their choice. Congratulations and Good luck to all on the next board.

Thanks everyone...Rutgers is a good school, he got into the Honors Enginerring Program. The only draw back is that it is a big school and he was hoping for a smaller one. ERU was his number one but oh well. Great honor anyway....I think he wanted to get out of the cold and a bit further from home.....

NewCollegeParent, as others on the forum have suggested, get in contact with GT admissions and let them know about the ROTC scholarship. Also contact the ROO at GT and see if they can put a word in for your son with admissions. They just allocated him a scholarship so they have a vested interest in getting him admitted.

Thanks for the advice. I'll pat him on the back and then get him on the phone. Your right, might as well leverage everything we can.

Hey everyone, sounds like a lot of great schools are getting some amazing incoming cadets. Keep posting as you see your DD/DS status update the schools being offered and of course, let us know which one they pick. When you all received your letters(hopefully later this week)and know even more details, keep the info coming--March will be different, but we can still learn from what you all are experiencing. It is great to see so many getting offers to schools they wanted!

Take care.

Our DS received an offer to Clemson University. We are thrilled, although this wasn't his first choice. We are trying to decided if we should appeal for a transfer. And we are trying to work out a trip to school #1 around his soccer schedule.
