So, I had a dream the other night that I was very out of shape when I got to BCT. Now, I know that I am physically fit right now, but it got me wondering. What would happen if someone arrived to BCT and was a little bit out of shape?

    A little flabby are we?

Hi Katamonk, anyone not in shape will be encouraged by the cadre, in their own special way, to get in shape. Actually, I believe everyone is pushed to their limit. If you can do 50 push-ups, you'll be pushed to do 51, 52, 53, etc. I have also heard that the cadre are aware most folks are experiencing prolonged high altitude for the first time, and there is an adjustment period. If you're in decent shape you'll be fine physically, the mental aspect is something else entirely. Good luck and please check in on this forum after acceptance to let us know how you're doing.

If you don't pass the PFT/AFT, you will be put on Recondo (Athletic probation) during the school year. Recondo is a set of mandatory workouts after classes. If you continue to not meet requirements, you will be sent to a review board which has the option of kicking you out. Most people pass their PT tests just fine. Those put on Recondo normally improve enough to pass.
