Hello,
I'm an applicant to the Naval Academy this year. I just learned that I didn't receive my representative's nomination to USNA. I haven't heard back yet from my state's senators (NJ), but I don't feel that my interviews went outstandingly with them, and I recognize that many more people from all across the state are competing for those noms. Of course, the VP's nomination is a long shot at best.
My question is--assuming an applicant is extremely well qualified--is it possible for the Academy to use a Superintendent's Nomination to admit someone from an unusually competitive district (NJ-05) who is NOT a recruited athlete or in possession of an LoA?
