I heard that we are issued laptops during plebe summer. Should I bring a personal laptop for after plebe summer?

DS got all of his computer "stuff" at the end of Plebe summer. You do not need a lap top and probably are unable to use one due the security features that must be on it. Leave it at home. And from what I recall, what they were issued this year was new to USNA and an excellent package. (I am not a computer guru--just passing on what I have heard from Mids I have talked to.
 
Agree that a personal laptop would probably be rarely used since you can't connect to the Academy's secure network. So you would be limited to using Wi-Fi hotspots off campus and you won't have much town liberty your first year. You could use a cellular network card but the reception is pretty bad in most parts of Bancroft. Many MIDNs just use their smart phones for internet access outside the school's network.
 
I don't know the rules in your country but most of the time due to security reason all these electronics thing like laptop and mobile with cameras are not allowed in the academy to use.So it is prohibited to have that things in academy.
 
I don't think it's necessary to bring a personal laptop. The only reason i could think of having one is for like iTunes or to save personal photos or whatnot.
 
Don't bother, you won't be able to use it. The issued laptop (which I'm using right now) covers what you need for school and is authorized to use the USNA network, which your personal device isn't. You could save your photos here or on the issued external hard drive, and at least as a plebe you have no need for iTunes because you don't rate music (or any other media) anyway.
 
it does not come with a mouse, you can pay extra for it, or just bring a wireless one at PPW.
