Hey guys, I just want to know what my chances are. I am an Active Duty enlisted Airman. I was born and raised in the Philippines. I moved to the states when I was 17. I learned how to speak English. I graduated high school last 2010. Ranked 11 out of 1,112 students. My GPA is 4.02. I took various Honors Classes during high school. We didn’t have any AP classes and Honors is the highest that my high school has. I played volleyball, basketball, badminton and soccer.

    Honors Classes
    Natural Science Geometry
    Biology
    Algebra I
    Chemistry
    Algebra II
    Physics Trigonometry

    Leadership and Extracurricular
-Student Body Vice President (Senior Year)
-Boy Scouts Troop Leader from 9th – 12th grade
-Sports Photo Editor for the high school newspaper (Senior Year)
-Cavite National High School Badminton Team Varsity Captain from 9th – 12th grade
-10th Grade – Class Vice President, Science and English Club President
-11th Grade – Science, Arts and Computer Programming I (T.L.E) Club President
-12th Grade – Science, Computer Programming II (T.L.E), M.A.P.E.H.(Music,Arts,P.E.,Health Education) Club President

    Element Leader – BMT
Airman Leader Red Rope – Tech School
    Distinguished Graduate – Tech School
    PTL – First Duty Base
Color Guard – First Duty Base Group

I’ve organized a lot of events in the SQ, GRP, WING and AF level communities. I am also involved with my base’s private organizations. I was nominated for the Airman of the Quarter during my first three months on station and Airman of the Year for 2015. I was also awarded with the Chief’s Group’s SHARP Airman of the Month December 2015.

Not being a citizen barred me from applying to the Academy 4 years ago. Now that I became a naturalized citizen, I am so pumped to apply. I want to give back to the Air Force and become a greater asset. The plan is to stay in the AF for more than 20 years and commission. My plan B is to commission through the SOAR Program (ROTC) and plan C is through SLCP. My application status is actually completed now. I maxed out my CFA and I am also medically qualified. The only thing that I am scared of is my ACT scores (Eng – 19, Math – 16). It’s been 6 years already since I graduated high school and I didn’t know that you have to take the SAT/ACT to apply for a college in the states, we didn’t have that in the PH. I still completed my application and still hoping to go to the Prep School then the Academy. Any thoughts about my situation? You guys have an awesome day!

It sounds like you are a great candidate! However, given that you graduated high school 6 years ago, I'm getting that this probably puts you at about 23/24 years of age. Unfortunately, this would bust the age requirement for USAFA (you must be at least 17, but not past your 23rd birthday on July 1st on the year of entry). Is this correct?
I think you would make a great candidate for the other programs out there if the academy isn't an option for you. Best of luck!

    Gotcha! That makes more sense.
I think your situation is unique and that would make you a great asset to the cadet wing. It sounds like you are really enthusiastic about applying, and that will get you far!

I went through the LEAD program. I can't say much about the admissions side of things anymore but feel free to PM me any specific or personal questions you might have about being a prior-E cadet.
