Are letters of intent legally binding? My son signed a letter from another academy that stated, " At this time, I intend to accept....." He hasn't heard from USNA as of yet and has nominations so I wonder if he should have signed the letter.

No. There is no penalty for declining after accepting. Did the letter indicate responsibility for informing and/or withdrawing from other like-pursuits?

No the letter didn't state anything along those lines, so I thought it was ok for him to sign. He has multiple nominations to Naval Academy so I want him to see how things shake out. Thank you for replying.
