An interesting article that talks about something that most of us don't think about. While it has never been a secret that there seem to be a lot of two and three-year-old kids running around at USAFA graduation ceremonies, it is interesting to see an article about the balancing act required to do it all.

I'm not posting this to stir up a nasty debate, I just thought it was relevant.

It's not all that new either. Even if some say: when I was in the academy....... A recent academy grad had her family there. Her dad is active and an academy grad. She is 1 year older than he has active duty. And he didn't have a break in service.

It sounds like they went through the pregnancy and custody process in the open, and perfectly legal way. It's the ones where "little Timmy" shows up on dad's graduation day, as a surprise, that are often in violation of the policy.

I'd much rather see this kind of case than one where the child is only acknowledged after graduation, or aborted.

Good for them. Of course, not every kid has a mom who can pack up and move to Colorado - all the same - glad it worked out.

Sounds like there was no investigation to find out just where the baby was conceived - in the barracks??? Good on that. Could have resulted in dismissals.

Wonder if the Academies should be issuing these as a reminder :

There's a whole bucket of free ones down at medical at USNA (right next to the tub of band-aids and judging HMs) plus they're sold in the mid store. I'm assuming USAFA does something similar.
