On the VP nom website is states all letters of rec are to be sent to the USNA. I understand that the USNA requires math and english teacher to fill out the online rec form on the application but what about additional letters of rec? Should candidates send in additional letters to the USNA to be used for the VP nom? Looking for a BGO or someone with inside knowledge to respond and clarify. Thanks!

Given that the VP nom is a contingency nom, I wouldn't worry about lining up a bunch of LOR's; the ones that will count will have been submitted by the aforementioned teachers.

BTW, food for thought: given that each year only about 5.000 to 6,000 noms are awarded, nominations become a major controller of the number of candidates who will be considered/eligible for appointments. Consider also, that the largest block of noms are awarded by MOC's and you begin to realize just how important it is for you to make your best impression at their selection interviews!

Best wishes to all of you... make a commitment to yourselves and your parents to make yourselves the very best candidate you can be!

Have to agree. Focus on obtaining an MOC nomination, either from your representative or senators, or one of the other special category nominations if you qualify. In our experience, the VP nominations (at least at USAFA) are typically held in reserve until the very end of the admission process (May) and then used largely for special candidates (i.e., prep school students, foundation students, those with LOAs, etc.) who for one reason or another did not get an MOC or other nomination.

Oh, so you do not send letters of recommendation to the Academy for the Vice Presidential nomination?
