March Army ROTC Board

Dude you have noting to worry about. Id say your a sure shot. But Volleyball captain and Varsity football?

Our volleyball captain is also our wrestling captain.

I just talked with my point of contact at CC and she said that they aren’t going to start updating peoples files until after April 1st. :frown:

So I guess I should stop checking my status every half hour...

I guess they're gonna be quite busy with inputting all the accepted statuses and the start of the April board.

Hang in there-
One more week. I never thought one week could seem so agonizing.
Out of all his friends our son is the last to know where he's going to school in the Fall-you almost want to say forget it and just make up your own mind about your future-almost-

Since my son has been before every AROTC board and we still don't know yet, we went to Plan B about a month ago. Within a couple weeks he was signed-up, tested, and has his ship date for Basic Training for the Army Reserves this summer. We have signed-up for housing, orientation, etc. and let the ROTC unit know at the in-state school he will be doing SMP. It was such a relief to have some plans made and actually know what he's going to do if the scholarship doesn't come through. It's a different route, and may even be a better financial package in the end. Of course, my son still wants to go to his 1st choice out-of-state school if he gets the scholarship, but it sure makes the waiting easier with somethinge else in place.

bdaMom - QQ - I thought you could only go the SMP route after one year of college was completed? This may be a great option for my son as well who has yet to been awarded an ROTC scholarship.

You are correct, SMP won't really start for another year, but he will start ROTC this fall. My son signed-up for the split option with the Reserves which allows him to take Basic Training this summer, AIT next summer, and then enroll in SMP the start of sophomore year. We will use the money he is paid during BT and drill pay throughout the first year to help with college his freshman year. Once he gets his BT and AIT done, the Reserves GI Bill and Kicker start paying, as well as the ROTC stipend. So the freshman year will be the hardest financially, but after that it works out pretty well (I hope!)

Once he gets AIT done won't he be able to drill with the reserves and get drill pay as well?
I also thought that the reserves pay for college.
I know the National Guard pays for 100% in-state tuition.

#1 son joined the Guard-finished basic at Ft Jackson and is now at AIT. He finishes that in July. August he plans to start his sophomore year.

He has a few options from there as well-contract with ROTC if they reinstitute on campus scholarships-get his degree and go OCS-or become a Physician Asst Masters degree in 4yrs through the Army's program at Fort Sam Houston.

There are a lot of options with the military for our kids.

USMA QNS list and AROTC selection

DS got Appointment to USMAPS today. Does this mean he will not have Name forwarded to Cadet Command on QNS list for ROTC consideration?

As soon as BT is done, he starts drilling (and ROTC activities can count as drill time) and the drill pay starts then. Reserves doesn't pay 100% tuition, but $4,500/year tuition assistance. I believe each state has different amounts for National Guard. Yes, there are lots of options and they should do well no matter which route they go.

My POC at CC sent me this email.

"There are five boards a year and yes there will be a board in April.
The results for March will be released on the 31st."

status update

my son's status changed today..... 'You may check your medical qualification status by visiting the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board DoDMERB WebSite'

Status Change

My status changed also to refer to DoDmerb for Medical Status. Can anyone verify what that means as far as scholarship status. Several of the schools where I applied and have been accepted already have all their spots filled. I am worried about the time frame as the May 1st deadline for enrollement is getting close.

Spots/allocations can open up at any time for various reasons. Someone may have decided to go elsewhere, accept an appointment to a SA, etc.

Your school list will show up in a couple of days on the status page.

Or you can call or email the PMS or ROO at one of your schools and inquire. They should be able to tell you what school(s) that you received the scholarship to. That's how we find out.

Status changed as well to check dodmerb site. Can hardly wait to see what school was selected! Still waiting to hear from USCGA.

Thank you for the information. I called one of the schools of his choice and he did receive one of his school choices. What a relief! Now we have to see if we can get a transfer to the school he would most like to attend. Any information from anyone on transfering a scholarship would be helpful.
