March Army ROTC Board

I had my interview with the PMS at NC State on Feb 2. I finally turned in my complete application on Feb 2 also. I was accepted into ECU, but not into NC State. Do you recieve a grade for your interview ?

My Info:
3.4 GPA
980 SAT :(
Company Commander of my NJROTC unit
Cadet Officer for 3 years
Wrestling team
Track & Field
Student Government
Lots of Community Service
76 Sit ups, 83 push ups, 6:21 on the mile (Presidential Fitness Challenge)

I know my SAT score is weak, but do you guys think I have any chance at getting a scholarship? My portal still says I have been sceduled for a interview with the PMS? Need any information, please help, thanks for any, and God Bless!

you do get a grade for your interview. the pms i interviewed with told me it was out of 200 total points. you can find the scoring sheet here: http://www.armyrotc.msstate.edu/benefits/forms/cc159-R.pdf he also said you need at least a 160 out of 200 for them to even consider you.

if anything, it'll be your sat score that brings you down...otherwise it looks good. i think the sat score might be enough for them to deny you...

Thanks for the info on the scoring sheet rotcdonde-that helps us to know if we're still competetive or not. Looks like were still in this thing

I just checked the system this morning and the DoDMERB message showed up. Does anyone know when the system will show a list of schools?

Congratulations! I think other posts have said three days.

Are all the results for the March Board already posted? Or are they still updating the system?

I don't believe they've begun to post as per our CC contacts. March results will post 31March-what we are seeing now may be campus-based scholarship offers?

Yeah, the 2LTs from my interview school called and said I got a 180, and that I am already on track to max out on the APFT easily. It stinks that I have such a poor SAT grade, I have never been good at taking tests! I understand it is big in the Army selecting you for this scholarship, BUT, when will any of us hopefuls EVER need to us some of the math, english, or science we learn in highschool? When will we ever need Chemistry or need to know a lot of what we are taught in High School!?!?! Even without this scholarship I will join the Army and become a Infantryman (and hopefully Airborne!!!) and I know that the information we were tested on during the SAT will NEVER come in play during my time of service, nor will it be used by a large majority of our Armed Forces! And I am not slow or anything, I am graduating with honors, and have been on the A & B honor role the last 2 years, it's just that I think the Army should think of another possible way to judge candidates. What do you all think? Thank you and God Bless!

Phew. I wasnt passed. My file actually didnt make it into the March board for some reason. So I will make it or break it this next board.

How did you find out that you file didn't make it into the March board?

My son's friend is waiting to hear. He was told that his would make it into the March board as long as everything was done by the Feb cut off date.

I was told that too but my ROTC advisor told me that it wasnt able to make it to the March board in time. Im assuming there was a back up or something.

We will need to use the science, math and english we learned a lot...as officers, we're expected to be able to do stuff like that. plus, i think sat scores can (generally) be a good indicator of how smart a person is, and the army doesn't want officers who aren't at least a significant chunk above average. just my two cents. if all you really want to do is infantry, you could enlist.... i dont know. did you only take the sat once? i know it's a bit late to take it again, but if that score was from your first time, it might have helped if you had tried again for a higher score.
i actually think the system the army has for judging candidates right now is pretty good. but it's true that sometimes otherwise excellent candidates are passed over because of one low section...
i guess the best you can hope for is the next board? i dont know if this board is done posting yet. good luck!

Personally, I think the system is a good mix. It's not just test numbers,(Some people are bad at tests) it is not just brawn,(Leaders need to be smart.) and it isn't just appearance at the interview. It's the whole person which I think will make a better, more well rounded officer.

March Board

Does anyone know how people are notified if they have been awarded ROTC scholarship is it regular mail or what?

My daughter's status changed Friday telling her to check the DoDMERB website, but when we go on that website it says that "create account is temporarily unavailable." Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!

Also, thanks to all who have posted info in this thread. It's been a terrific source of information during our long wait!

You can check the status on goarmy.com where the application was submitted. It will first change from "schedule an interview" to "you can check your medical qualification with DoDMERB". A few days later it will tell you that you've been offered and scholarship and list the school or schools offered.

The offer letter will come in the mail along with instructions. My son's came about a week after the status change on line.

It happens to everyone! It takes a little while for DODMERB to get your information from ROTC. You'll get a letter in the mail after the ROTC. If you have any questions/concerns, e-mail Mr. Larry Mullen on the DODMERB forum. He works at DODMERB and he's always ready to help you out!

Hopefully, today's the day.
Good luck to everyone.:shake::shake::shake:

good luck!

I've got my son's best friend here and I'm hoping that he signs on and gets good news today. It will be something if I can see that excitement again.
