March Army ROTC Board

So 98charlie. Did your son do his scored interview at each individual school? Or were these just personal interviews.
My son didn't have the option, in fact, CC made him interview at a nearly school that wasn't even one of his choices.

No, we were under the impression you only need 1 scored interview.
And the results of that interview are sent to CC which shares the results with all of the schools you list on the application.

I don't think that anyone really knows how easy it will be to switch a scholarship. Contact the PMS at your top school and start talking to them.

I don't think my school has one. I've googled it and looked on the school's site, nothing. I contacted the PMS at the school that runs the program for the schools in the area and he told me what to do. Just hope it works.

You do only need to interview at one school at it doesn't have to be at one of the schools on your list either if you can't get to it.

Haven't heard anything as of 8:00 am 1 April - don't know if CC has finished posting results, has anyone heard anything yet? This is really crazy with the final board next week, will continue to pray and check the sites:thumb::smile:

Nothing here either. May 1st is right around the corner so decisions will have to be made. One parent posted about SMP. Her son was actually going to BT this summer, before Freshamn year, still taking ROTC classes.

Any one have any input on this route?

Was told by my contact @ CC that my daughter was not offered from this board. We are going to persue a campus based scholarship, and pray things fall into place, good luck to all and I will talk to you in about 3 weeks:smile:

I'm so sorry. There is one more National board and hopefully your daughter will get that.
Good luck to you and your daughter.

I'm sorry to hear that as well. There sure hasn't been much good news in any of these posts to indicate many scholarships are being offered. Even though my son hasn't received one either, I was hopeful for others. It just sounds like the funding has been cut everywhere and it's not a good year for ROTC scholarships.

I have talked with my son's PMS at his #1 choice about if he does not get offered a scholarship from CC then how does the Campus Based Scholarship work and if we should go ahead and put in for that. He said that until after all the smoke clears from CC Scholarship offers then they can make a decision on Campus Based Scholarships. So from what he said we will not find out until sometime in May if our son will be offered either scholarships and if he does not get any offers then his last choice will be to do SMP and I am affraid it may be too late for him to join the National Guard and do his basic training in time to start College in August/September. So we are really worried on what to do at this time.

Well here we are in the week of the final national Army ROTC board...alot of concern and prayers are out there. Campus based scholarships are just as good, let's not give up:thumb: Much movement will occur after this board and the dust settles, Good luck to all who are still waiting for good news, as I am....:smile:for our daughter.

Yes, the timing of all this really makes it hard to get things in with the colleges. We have had to go through the process of signing-up for orientation/housing/financial aid, etc. with the in-state school in anticipation of NOT getting the scholarship. Not to mention joining the Army Reserves! If our son ends up getting one here at the very end, we are not prepared with his 1st choice out-of-state school at all. We've just had to go with our gut that he isn't going to get the scholarship, but if he does, we'll be scrambling to get everything lined up. You'd think they would make a schedule that works with the colleges better. I understand your concern! My son joined the Reserves in Feb. and it was questionable whether they could get him a ship date for BT to get it done before college starts. We seemed to make it just in time. If you need to go the SMP route, I believe you can wait and join the National Guard and do BT next summer, since SMP doesn't really start until the sophomore year. We needed to do it this year so he could do his BT split option (AIT is next summer) since he needs that training done to get the full benefits of the GI Bill and Kicker to start.

Good luck to everyone who is going before this last board. I hope everyone gets great news shortly.

Last week we did click on the "contact" button on the application status page, and within 24 hours received a reply back that our son's application will be before the April Board.

Not sure how they decide who goes before which board; would have thought we'd have been before the March board given the timing of everything we submitted, but, whatever, it was sure nice to get a response back.

Good luck to everyone!

3 Yr ROTC

We recieved the offical paperwork and son received a 3 year scholarship/ We got great neews today and he needs to be medically qualified by his Sophmore year and that allows him the time to get his medical qualification in order without re-applying. We could not be happier or prouder.:yllol::thumb::cool:

Good luck to all of the great canidates still awaiting word:thumb:

Thanks for sharing the great news! We're all so glad to hear it, congratulations!

My daughter received the Army ROTC scholarship letter last week for the 4-year scholarship but one of her top choices (Auburn) was not listed. She had been accepted to Auburn and given an academic scholarship so I'm not sure why it wasn't one of her options on her letter. Anyone else have this experience? Know of a solution?
Thanks.
