I just found out that Son #1 is doing the flyover for the Marlins' home opener tomorrow night. It's a bit of a short notice for me to get to the game, unfortunately. If anyone happens to get pics or video let me know!

They can use the $70000+ in taxes I paid for a flyover before they spend a dime on some homeless derelict that refuses to work.

    Agree with k2 100%.

Scout, I suppose we could spend no tax money on training missions as well (flyovers are training...), thus our pilots would have little to no experience when we need them to go into combat situations. You're probably feeling the Bern too...

It's funny that you have no clue about me. At all. Comically so.

Flyovers of stadiums provide no training value. They're a DOD expenditure on behalf of a pro sports team.

And I suppose they provide no value to THE actual taxpayers (spectators..) as well. Sorry I didn't realize how smart you are.

It takes smarts somewhere on the level of a ham sandwich to realize that "OH WELL FLYOVERS ARE A WASTE I GUESS WE SHOULDN'T TRAIN AT ALL" is a foolish line of attempted logic. Your argument amount to saying that if we can't waste money and flying hours, we shouldn't do our actual jobs. Argumentum ad absurdum, indeed.

The role of the U.S. military combat aircrews is not to provide value to fans at a baseball game. If you and K2 are some concerned about all these freeloaders, you might do well to remember that statistically speaking, half of the people who see that flyover paid no income taxes to support it. Talk about a free ride.

C'mon Scout, how 'bout a little something for the taxpayers of the city who can't afford $8 beers and $10 nachos? They're able to watch from outside of the stadium. After all, in almost all cases their tax dollars paid for the stadium which was gift to the team.

The taxpayers of the city did not pay for the ballpark. The public finding came from a fund created specifically for sporting venues that gets it money from various taxes on tourism.

I have worked doing television production for live events for a long time.
Seen a lot of bad flyovers.
Have to say they nailed it timing wise.

My apologies to Stealth for sidetracking away from a very proud moment for him and his family. Airshows of almost every kind are very cool. To be in one or having a DS/DD in one would be even cooler.

Out of respect, I'll wait for a different thread or forum to explain the fungibility of money and the tricks of public finance.
