Multiple USMMA congressional nominations?

@west coast dad

It's seems unusual to me that you have not heard from someone by now. The deadline is Jan 31st, so I hope they've acknowledged your application at least, if not nailed down an interview date. But i don't have any experience with your state.

My son did have an interview with a representative from another district, he felt it went very well. But so far no interview from either senator or our representative. All he needs is one nomination so we feel fine knowing he has done everything in his control.

We live in Ohio. I was worried my son would not get a Nom from either of our senators or our congressman. After finding out you can get a Nom from any congressman in your state for USMMA, we called several congressman's offices and spoke to the staff member coordinating SA nominations. Several would not consider candidates outside of their district even though they only had a couple USMMA applicants. One would and ultimately my son got a USMMA nom from him. My son also got a nom for USMMA from our senator and got an appointment letter from USMMA today. He also got noms for USNA from our senator and our own congressman but USNA moves much more slowly in our experience so far and that is understandable since they have so many applicants. So, if your DS wants to go to USMMA, call around to other congressional districts in your state to make sure he or she has a nomination.

I can't recall if contacting multiple representatives for USMMA nominations was the case when I went through the process those 30+ years ago. I do recall approaching both CA Senators at the time, but ultimately got my Representative to respond. He sent a form listing all Academies in the process and in filling it out, requested the preferences of each. Initially, I was shooting for Colorado Springs, but did also list KP (as my choice after AFA and NA. . . ) I received nominations to all three. . . but truth be told, by the time I finished the process, I was really only interested in KP. . .

Is it ok for my son to call a MOC 2 weeks after an interview and ask if he will be receiving a nomination to kings point? Or should he just patiently wait to hear from him?

Son received his nomination to kings point today from a member of congress outside our district. One step closer....

Congrats on your appointment letter. DS is current plebe at USMMA. He has not regretted his choice at all it is tough sometimes, but he keeps his eye on the prize and knows he made the right choice for him. PM if you have any questions of life as a plebe. Do join the 2020 page it is run by parents if current plebes info is helpful but not always gospel. It is not an easy path and many on forum talk about ups and downs, but KP is unique and if it is what you want worth it. First choice for DS and no regrets (although he misses his phone a lot)
