Howdy,
I recently got my DoDMERB results from USNA:

D155.70 Myopia - refractive error greater than -8.00 diopters (spherical equivalent)
D162.11 History of bowel resection

The history of bowel resection part came from a very bad car accident I was in at ten years old that caused me internal injuries with mesentery complications. I'm confident that if I am offered an offer of appointment I can get it waived because the car crash was eight years ago and I am completely recovered.

What I am worried about, though, is the myopia (near-sightedness). I talked to my admissions officer and he told me to wait to when/if I get an offer of appointment to see if I can get a waiver.

Does anyone know someone who knows someone who knows someone that got a waiver for this type of myopia? Or does this type of near-sightedness an automatic disqualification for me? Should I be worried about not getting a waiver?
I know waiting for a waiver is just a waiting game but it would be nice to know how common a waiver is for myopia so I can at least be prepared for the worst.

I want to be straight up with you. The myopia waiver is probably not going to happen. I myself was disqualified last year for the same reason (mypia greater than 8.00) and if you want to look at my stats, I believe theyre posted somewhere on this site. However, I am considering reapplying this year because my eyesight has not changed since last year and apparently that looks favorable towards DoDMERB. But again, there is no guarantee whether the waiver will be given which is why I'm only considering.

I don't know what youre admission officer is telling you but you will not get an offer of appointment without the waiver.

From my experience and what my regional admissions officer told me from both West Point and Navy, the myopia waiver is one of the hardest to obtain

Yikes. That's disappointing for me. Thanks for the heads up, I don't want anything sugar coated. I'm still going to be hopeful for the waivers!
