Mystery Call From MOC

DS was notified by phone from MOC staff last week that he received a nomination. An hour ago the MOC herself called DS congratulating him, DS told her yes thank you I’m very excited. MOC then asked how did you know? DS said that he received a call from MOC staff and the nomination has been on his portal. Then the call was finished......this is an example of how my DS makes me smile every day, he has no idea if MOC was congratulating him for a nomination or appointment??? What does the SAF think? I think it may be an appointment but I’m unsure, nothing on the portal yet.
Hoping it is an appointment and sounds like it could be!

I think you should be hopeful and keep your eyes out for an update to your portal! Our son had 3 nominations on his portal (Senatorial, Congressional and Presidential) and on January 27th he received a call from his Congresswoman. She congratulated him and told him she had received his appointment from West Point. That Friday his acceptance showed up on his portal and he has since accepted. Our son was a reapplicant. He was waiting on a color vision waiver when the Covid shutdown closed that process down a month early for 2020.
Looking forward to hearing a wonderful update from you soon!

I’m with the appointment vibes people!
DD received a call from the MOC who gave her a nomination, congratulating her on her appointment. Later that evening she received a call from the Senator who gave her a nomination, also congratulating her on her appointment. It was very exciting, although we have no idea which nomination she was charged to. Not that it’s for us to know, but was definitely interesting to receive a call from both 🤷🏻‍♀️
Portal was updated with an offer letter the next day, and the infamous green button showed up 2 days after that. Best wishes and fingers crossed!! 🙌🏼

And the answer is......APPOINTMENT!!! Yes DS was thanking the MOC for the nomination while MOC was congratulating DS for appointment to USMA! They were on different wavelengths! I am super proud of him as any parent would be but I’m especially happy that he will being joining his brother (2017 Grad) as a member of the Long Gray Line. They will have that common bond for their entire lives. Special note to reapplicants and some first timers on the SAF that may be turned down in the next few weeks, don’t give up! DS is a 3rd time USMA applicant and is a college sophomore doing ROTC, he has great grades in high school and college but his standardized tests were lacking. He has taken the ACT 12 times and raised his composite score from 21 to 33. He had a dream and worked his ass off to make it happen. Don’t give up on your dream!
