NAVSTA Newport is an actual Naval Base, so you can't just "walk in" like you would at USNA. Therefore, if you decide to visit, make sure you coordinate it and receive permission from the NAPS staff or USNA Admissions. I wouldn't recommend just "showing up" and expecting a tour.

True. I know of several people from either Rhode Island or nearby states who have stayed in Ripley Hall (the living facilities for NAPS) during JROTC or Sea Cadet activities during the summer. I'm sure the staff would be open to a *brief* tour if you contacted them in advance.
