My son along with his parents were invited to the naval academy alumni ball this December.

I'm not sure what to read into this invitation as I believe that all competitive applicants are invited. I'm not certain what his chances are if any.

He has finished his interview a few weeks ago with Senator Ratcliffes office but other than that there have been no other notifications.

I'm also wondering if it is too late to be recruited for either football or baseball as he submitted his recruitment information last year.

If he submitted the stuff and the coaches never pursued him then I would say his chances are slim to be tagged as a recruit. USNA knows who they want and need for their teams and if a candidate who reaches out can help the team, they would of certainly approached him.

Many local parent's groups invite candidates to the local balls. These are run parents and alumni groups, not USNA. Don't read too much into the invite. There will be many currents Mids and Cadets there, their families and also alumni. It can get pricey for 2-4 tickets, especially if they are black tie (most are) and you aren't within an easy commute. Hotel, tickets, tux or two, dress can add quickly.

I would say your son has as good a shot as any! Good luck.

That is good news! Tickets can get pricey for those events. I think for my local one, alumni tickets can run around $75/person.
