I guess the honor falls to me to start this!
I was accepted to NAPS on Monday. Hooray!!!
Congrats! How awesome to know so early...and just remember, you still have a time to turn that into a direct appointment, WTG!
Did you find out through checking your DODMERB status or did you get a letter in the mail?
Congrats! I'm at NAPS right now and it is extremely tough, but I am loving it. If you have any questions, just message me or you can add me on FB.
Congratulations and enjoy Newport. Try the Atlantic Grill in Middletown for breakfast if you get a chance.
congrats. btw, how do you turn a naps appointment to direct appointment?
Naval Academy Preparatory....
Way to go, you can be very proud of what you have achieved, keep forging on.
DD received a Senator Nomination for the Merchant Marine Academy and an offer for NAPS/ USNA Class of 2016. She chose NAPS!
That's awesome for her!! I look forward to being classmates with her then!!
Are you doing NAPS or the Citadel navymidshipman2015?
My daughter will be in your class
So will mine
Got my acceptance to NAPS about a week ago!

navymidshipman2015- appointed Septemeber 16,2010(Atlanta,Ga)
OK, why are they handing out NAPS appointments when they have not finished with their regular appointments?
And congrats on NAPS.
Thanks in advance.
I was admitted into NAPS on Dec. 20 2010...I WAS SO EXCITED because I attended the summer seminar and I knew that going into the Naval Academy right after high school would not be the best decision...I could have handled it but I felt that if I had that extra year than I would be squared away....Anyway I am interested in connecting with people who will be attending NAPS with me this upcoming year...
NAPS appointees are not selected from candidates who were rejected from USNA.
Those selected for NAPS are candidates whom the Academy would like to appoint but need an extra year of prep prior (for one reason or another) to reporting to the academy.
They do not need to wait until all appointments are made prior to begin selecting candidates for this group.
I understand the question though. I have heard that NAPS is usually for the highly desirable yet academically less qualified. New ACT scores and semesters grades are just now available, so how can USNA make the decision on napsters in early DEC and especially in Sept like Navymidshipman2015?
If it is a way to USNA
and that is what you want, GO FOR IT!
And if you accept NAPS, you can still get an appointment for this year, right? Seems like I read that somewhere.
The explanation given to nephew by his B&G officer was also about academics, that is was a good place to be to improve or test the waters. I also think they ask you if you will go there, to see if you will do whatever it takes to make it to the USNA. My nephew told them whatever it takes.
