My daughter applied for the NROTC- nursing option. We were under the impression there was one board for this and it was typically in mid/late March. Her portal changed in late February to “I’m sorry you were not selected. You will be receiving a letter with additional options.” Two weeks later she has yet to receive a letter or email of any kind. I’m seeing posts from others who applied for this scholarship who seem to still be waiting to hear? Her application was not weak- 1470 SAT, 4.0 GPA, top 10 in her class, multiple AP science classes, lots of leadership, etc.

Did any other nursing applicants hear in early March? For anyone that was denied in earlier years, was there further communication past the portal update and how long did it take to receive?

DS wasn't a nursing option but he eventually got a letter describing other paths to a commission that were available to him.

No doubt your DD was competitive but so few nursing scholarships are awarded that it's a very narrow path.

Did your DD receive any emails? Typically, nurse options will have their status updated, emails from NSTC, Recruiter/scholarship coordinator, and the assigned unit (if selected). I would have your DD reach out to the Recruiter or Scholarship Coordinator for more info. There have been several instances where the portal updates incorrectly or an email is sent with the wrong message.

I was awarded my Nurse Scholarship in late April.

FYSA, there are only about 10 total Nurse scholarships year to year (+/- 3) so even with the best possible stats, it’s an incredibly difficult path.

She has received nothing further...no email...just happened to check her portal and it had updated. She knows it is a super small group and very competitive. The timing of the portal update was surprising as it was easily a month earlier than expected. I’ll suggest she reach out for confirmation/ further information.

Did you become a nurse or presently attending school? Navy or otherwise?
