Navy ROTC Scholarship

Is it possible to send updated transcripts including the 7th semester for NROTC Scholarship?

So wondering if we should even be looking today for a portal change as looks like people that were selected last board (Same week as Army not the one this week 2/8-12) DS got contacted regarding completing another application at two HBC for the Minority School section one a school he applied one one he was really interested in but they never returned calls nor emails so he could even schedule a visit when in area visiting schools. One said to check the status which made me think there should be a status change but then because this requires another interview and another application wondering if it is just getting school contacts because he said he was interested in attending a HBC.
Anyone know if this week's updates are done so we start waiting for the 26th and the next NROTC posting (This is the second time people were posting on Wed of the week they did not expect notices till Friday but not sure if people were still getting posted on Friday or they just saw it because they waited to check till Friday... OCD does not do well with this process.

They told me that I would not be slected if reviewed at other boards, and I will be mailed a letter as to why
That doesn't even make sense. They are cutting out 99% of the field every board? When you get your letter you should post the content.

At this point, all of the files that have been reviewed for boards so far have been a score and they are rank ordered. All applications are in now, as the deadline has already passed. The board knows how many scholarships they have left to award, so if your file's score is lower than the number of remaining scholarships that remain, then mathematically, there is no way you could get a scholarship. Those are the letters that are going out. To be clear, the board has already reviewed these applicant's files and tere is no sense in letting the applicants hang when there is no way they will get the scholarships.

When you get your letter you should post the content.

The content is nothing that will really mean anything IMPO. It is going to probably state that they had X number of candidates, Y number awarded, Z% that were STEM. Of course they will say that the path has not ended here, that the candidate should enroll in the NROTC program at their college and compete for the scholarship again next year.

Just my opinion, but there is nothing in the content of the letter to give any insight, expect for the fact that they have thousands of more applicants than scholarships available for the NROTC commissioning class of 2020.

FYI, if they hold true to the past few years, the selection rate is @ the same as USNA. 16-18% will receive scholarships. 85% go to STEM majors.
~ Big difference is USNA or any SA starts at a geo-centric level (MOC) perspective, however, NROTC starts and ends at a national level.

Unless something had changed the letter won't even go into the numbers. They do list all the alternate paths to becoming a Naval or Marine officer including college programmer, OCC, OCS, and PLC depending on which option you applied for.

we are expecting "the letter." (No mail yesterday/cold? No mail tomorrow/Nat. holiday) If it says anything interesting, which I am sure that it will not, I will let you know. However, the regional NROTC officer with whom he was in constant contact reached out to him immediately to get the process started again as he intends to be a "walk on" in the worst case scenario. If you applied to NROTC schools and schools that you can afford, I think that it is important to remember that no door has been closed if you have not been selected. You have missed out on a monetary award. You can still join NROTC and try again

Row why are you expecting the letter? I agree with the logistics pima has posted. Unless you receive the inside scoop you will not be selected hang in for the ride. Watching this over in the past years our HS kids did not hear back until Feb and early March. Rejections came late march and april. Keep checking your portal and make sure the back up plans are in place.

We had turned in everything very early on and were just notified that my DS was not selected. Good thing he has an Army ROTC scholarship and was accepted to 2 of 3 schools so far. Still awaiting USNA and USMA. Crossing fingers and saying prayers!

I just heard at the beginning of the week that I've been offered a full four year scholarship at Duke (my 1st choice)!
However, I don't hear from Duke until April 1st. However, I have been offered admission at my 2nd and 5th choices and will hear from the other 2 in the spring.

DD received notification for full NROTC scholarship in October. Admitted to 2nd choice school and awaiting 1st choice. 1st choice will not send acceptance/rejection letters until March. Good luck to all... Keep working towards a plan and stay optimistic.

(Nov. 2014) After receiving a 4-yr at DS 1st choice school, my son went in for an informal Q&A meeting with the freshman LT (before university acceptance letters came out.) At the end of the meeting the LT advised him if he was placed on a wait list to contact him and he'd talk with admissions. DS was not expecting the offer of help and was happy that they'd go to bat for him.

Your candidate may want to set up a meeting for a Q&A session and that would give them an opportunity to ask about admissions. Be prepared with questions. Also it never hurts to bring a copy of their transcripts, test scores, LOR, leadership/activities etc. to give to whomever your candidate is meeting with.

All the best
