Just want to provide a shout-out and hardy congratulations to the Navy Women's Rugby Team for making the USA Rugby Final 4's Championship round. This year, the final 4 consist of Navy, Penn State, Stanford, and Norwich. We've followed the team from the internet this year but we will be in Palo Alto, CA to root them on in person for the Championship run.

For any incoming female plebes, check out joining Navy Women's' Rugby during plebe summer. As a club team, new members are 100% walk-on. NWR is one of the top club teams at the Academy . They travel as much as some varsity teams and always play a tough inter-collegiate schedule. The team is perpetually nationally ranked and has not finished a season ranked lower than 6th in the nation in over a decade. Check them out. :thumb:

Congratulations! As one rugby parent to another it's nice when I run into parents of kids who play.

My DS has played all four years in high school (team is nationally ranked at 11th and going for their third straight state title this weekened) He is hoping to continue playing at USNA. :)

If any of you live in the Bay Area or are visiting....

This annoucement came through the USNA Parents Club for the Bay Area. Thought it was worth passing on.

We have a unique opportunity to view and root on our USNA Rugby teams right here in the bay (our bay) area. Both the men's and the women's teams have qualified for and will be competing for national championships and need our support.

    Women's Rugby team info:
The Navy Women's team qualified to play in the Final 4 at Stanford. They will be playing their first game against Penn State on Friday, May 3 at 2 PM at Stanford's Steuber Pitch (directions:
off of El Camino Real in Palo Alto http://rugby.stanford.edu/directions.htm ). The second game will be on Saturday, May 4 - time TBD.

It is a very big deal for the Navy teams to make it this far to what is actually the national collegiate championships. Please plan to attend and support 'Navy ball' if there is any way you can...we don't get very many opportunities to do this.

    Go Navy...beat them all!

We are planning to attend the Men's Rugby match at Cal on Saturday. We are from the Sacramento area so it's great to be able to go see them compete so close to home!

My DS has also been playing varsity rugby since freshman year and is hoping to play at Navy.

    Go Navy!

    Go Navy !!

We were unable to make the trip to California to see DD play this Friday and Saturday. To all those who will be attending, please cheer a bit extra to make up for our absence.

I'm sure you'll be screaming loud enough from wherever you are for your DD to hear you!
