I was just posting to get some opinions on whether or not I should apply to the academy. I am in a very unique situation. I applied for the class of 2017 and was appointed. I accepted my appointment over a full ride to both Johns Hopkins and Duke. However, part of the way through basic training, I started receiving letters from my family about troubles that they were going through. (both financial and medical) So I decided to leave the academy to go help out my mother and little brother.
Now I am wondering if I had the possibility of getting back into the academy.
As of right now I am not enrolled in any school I had to take a gap year because when I came home from the academy it was too late to enroll in another school. I will list some of my statistics below.
GPA
Weighted: 4.85
Unweighted: 3.95
SAT two part/ACT composite
1340/32
Extracurriculars
Varsity volleyball, basketball, baseball
Captain basketball, baseball
National Honor society
Operation Smile officer
Math Club officer
Young life
then was about 80 hours of community service now over 100
Volunteer at local hospital
Volunteer in local and national elections
tutoring
(now volunteer as emt for local ems)
all district and region for basketball
State Champs for baseball
Showcase basketball, baseball, volleyball as well
Next year I will be attending a local university it isn't very prestigious because I would be unable to afford anything else. I was just wondering if there would be any hope for me to apply and If anyone had any advice or reccomendations for what I should do in my time off to improve my chances. (Not physical I am still in great shape, better than I was during bct)
