Looks like our new cadets will have a new fitness test next year
It's the first change in 20 years.
It will be two different tests.
The proposed tests are, the Army Physical Readiness Test, or APRT, and the Army Combat Readiness Test, known as the ACRT.
The APRT will involve the following:
60 yard Shuttle Run
1 Min. Rower (Real wierd looking sit ups)
Standing Long Jump
1 min. Push Ups
1.5 mile run
The ACRT will involve the following:
400 meter run with weapon
Individual Movement Techniques ( Jumping over and under an obstical type course)
Ammo Can Shuttle Sprint (Running on a balance beam carrying 30 lbs ammo cans.)
Casulaty Drag (Dragging a sled with 180 lbs of sand bags)
Running a course while aiming your weapon
Agility Sprint ( Running around a serpentine line of cones.)
They are testing these new test at different bases across the country this summer and they say they should be in place by next year.
Google "TRADOC revises Army Physical Fitness Test" Sorry I am not tech savey enough to post a link.
My son sent me this link, he said the guys that are in good shape are excited for it, the guys that are a bit lacking are not quite sure.
It sure looks like a good idea to me, We might want to let our kids know to start working on a few of the new drills so there ready.
