Hi, my DS has applied to about 10 schools and has been accepted to most of them and the ones he has not heard back from were not ED schools and the admittance dates have not arrived yet. As of now he is still undecided about where he wants to go, at least more or less. Now I will get to my question about NGCSU. DS also applied here but was waitlisted. I was a little suprised because he was accepted to a few schools that I think some would consider on a higher tier. Nevertheless, DS asked me to ask you guys if you had any advice for him on how to get off of the waitlist. Is it possible? What are his chances? Is there anything specific he should do? He will send an updated SAT Score and a copy of his mid semester grades, and a personal statement letter so they know he is interested. What do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea? I will stand by and wait for your tips on how to proceed or if he should move on.

    Tufts Syndrome?

I'd say take the acceptance at the better school. If he really wants NG, call admissions and find out where he could strengthen his record.

I've heard anecdotal tales of lesser-ranked schools denying people with strong credentials on the basis that they won't accept their admission to the lower school. I have no idea how true it is. Schools can tell, often via the essays, if the applicant is considering the school a back-up. I have no idea if this is the case with your son; however, if you call and express interest, and ask what you can do to improve your chances on the wait list, you might find this showing of interest is advantageous.

Again, the best place to go is the admissions office at North Georgia. Follow whatever instructions they give you
