No More Public AirShows

The press release looks fine. It's the "take your protests to the government" line I didn't like. If it's from an association, it's a nonprofit and I'm fine with that. If it's from an actual federal employee then I have an issue with it.

Agreed! For me, fly overs at local festivals in KY are part of what got me interested me in the Air Force! It has inspired me to become a pilot, air shows are exposure for people like me. I get that some people may not understand that though...

:thumb: I can't agree more. Air shows at Little Rock AFB was what inspired me as a young boy. Now, I will strive to be a pilot even if only a commercial pilot part time. I want the chance to pilot an aircraft at least once in my life. Just touring inside a cockpit is still inspiring.

I was just wondering if anything had been settled regarding the Thunderbirds at graduation, if not, have other arrangements been made?

Nothing has been settled. Plans are currently in progress and awaiting approval from the power to be at the Air Force. If you want any additional information pm me and I will give you all the details to date.

Glad to hear those great vintage Army and Navy Warbirds will be able to give those AFA Graduates a good show.

I'm glad the cadets will get some sort of a military flyover, even if it isn't the Thunderbirds.

That lineup needs a B-17 though. :thumb:

They've been working on her that's for sure.;)

I've seen Fifi twice... and flying quite a bit. Working at Airventure has its perks.

I really hope they give that aircraft a lot of love, it deserves it! Pity that B-29 that was recovered a few years back from Greenland burned up before making it off the ground. Crying shame. Watching the video of the fire made me cry.

Keep 'em flying!

USNA will have a flyover! No Blue Angels

All Annapolis:

For those asking about Commissioning Week Events at the USNA.

Sea Trials (not public, but we will have photos and video), are May 14th. This is when the plebes actually complete their plebe year by demonstrating their mental and physical readiness.

Herndon Climb (open to the public) is May 20th at 1:30pm. The obelisk is greased with lard and the 4th class midshipmen climb it. Legend says the one that gets the cap places atop will be first to make admiral. This is the traditional "end" to their freshman year.

USMC Silent Drill Team (open to the public) is May 21st ar Worden Field at 1pm. Impressive display, highly recommended to go see this.

Color Parade (open to the public) May 23rd 11am. This is a formal parade and is the passing of the colors to the next company. The most formal of the color parades.

Graduation and Flyover (not public) is May 24th beginning at 10am. President Obama will be speaking and there will be a military flyover (not the Blue Angels) to celebrate.

Herndon is at the monument on the Academy Grounds. The parades are at Worden Field also on the Academy.

For anyone interested, Major Blaine Jones (Thunderbird #5) did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, touched on a few issues of sequestration before he had to log off for the time being, he may be available to respond to any questions you may have. He touched on a few questions regarding sequestration and the future of the TBs that you may find interesting.

AMA is here.
