No news is good news?

I have been told by several people that by not hearing anything from the Naval Academy, that i have a better chance of hearing good news. Is this true?
 
Honestly, no news at this point isn't necessarily good or bad. They simply haven't made a decision either way.

usna1985- Do you know what the phrase "not fully evaluated" means? Does it imply that the package has at least been looked at-please clarify if you can :smile:
 
I believe the only good news IS good news. I have a friend who have already been told that at best he could go to NAPS.

Then there are some people who aren't going to find out whether they made the cut or not until mid-April.
 
Not sure; it's not an "official" term with which I'm familiar. It could mean that your record has been deferred -- they haven't made a final decision either way. But the term for that is "deferred."

It could be that your BGO sees "not evaluated" in the BGIS system for the Admissions Board review. That can mean they haven't reviewed your record at all or that it's deferred.

From whom did you hear this?

Not Fully Evaluated normally is a term meaning that you have not been offered an appointment at this time. IOW, it COULD mean you are scholastically qualified, but still in the process to compete for an appointment. If however, you were not scholastically qualified, Admissions might not have gotten around to assigning a TWE yet. Hopefully, the earlier is the better news for you.

Right now I have a candidate who is scholastically qualified but also has not been "evaluated" for an appointment to USNA. You may or may not fit into that similar scenario.

Let me also caveat, what we have said in previous posts: BGOs are not notified of an appointment in our system until ~7-10 days after the nomination source is informed. So, it is possible to have received an appointment, but you are likely to receive a call or the BFE before we would know!
 
Thank you both for your prompt replies. We know that DS is academically qualified however he is in need of a waiver for childhood asthma. He has been granted a waiver for USMMA and consequently has an appointment to that SA. His BGO was the person who stated that he hadn't been fully evaluated. When asked what that meant he said "exactly that"
So I guess we wait :confused:
