Has anyone received a decision this week?
DS was awarded a 4 year NROTC Scholarship today. Email was sent a 4PM and portal was updated.
DS was denied NROTC scholarship, waitlisted AFROTC, still triple Qd and waiting for USNA and USCGA.
5Day and F15DOC, would either of you be willing to post your DS's stats so some of us who are preparing to apply for an NROTC and/or AFROTC 4 year scholarship can do some personal evaluation, and possibly glean something reference possibilities/chances? Thank you in advance for any information you might be willing to share.
@MichUSNA2021hopefulparent sent you a PM
I got one early Monday- 4 years to the college of my choice
What do you mean by college of your choice? Didn't they place your scholarship with the school that you listed #1 and give you a form to fill out to transfer your scholarship?
What college, if you don't mind sharing?
My recruiter and the email I got told me that I could choose whatever college I wanted to go to, and the scholarship would be given to me for that school.
DS received 4-year scholarship yesterday afternoon -- but has not been accepted to the school as of yet. Not sure if this is common.
DS still showing 'no decision made' just check it on Weds now since most decisions seem to be posted on Wed except one that said they got email on a Monday.
Denied NROTC Scholarship yesterday. Still waiting on USNA and USMMA. Triple Qualified with nomination on both. I was pretty upset because NROTC was the plan B. They must have had really strong applicants this year. Like really, really strong.
Hi Chris - please understand I am telling you this with the absolute best intentions, but it is my understanding that NROTC scholarships are awarded to specific schools. My DS received one as well. Each school has a quota - and some - like Texas A&M- are in high demand. They can only take 25 four year scholarship students there, and as a result he is currently on a wait list. You can apply the scholarship to any school you want, but they have to have room for you at that unit. This is not true of his AFROTC scholarship, which he can use anywhere, including at A&M. I am not saying you are wrong, but it's something very different than I have heard, or experienced with other families I know. I would just investigate and call the unit at the school you want to go to!
Still showing no decision think maybe because he did the Minority Serving Institution applications for Howard and Tuskeegee and the Alternate thing I always forget the name but is what the NJROTC cadets can apply for and then are ranked by their state with each state getting slots based on how many are left then they have to find schools with slots that they are admitted to or could get accepted. He has AROTC 3 year and selected a school that does not have NROTC but has been accepted to several NROTC schools so if got a 4 year to a school that also gives free room and board might be a conversation..But he really likes the ROTC unit at selected school so might be a hard sell to change now.
The name of that scholarship is
Minority Serving Institution (MSI) Scholarship Program
I know the MSI which I said there is an Alternate Service reservation which I mix up the order of Service and reservation for the NJROTC cadets application.
Please disregard. I meant to reference the ASR.
When will NROTC scholarships be announced for the last time? Haven't heard anything yet and I don't know when the boards meet.
There are still two remaining boards in April. Final scholarship recipients from the last board will not be notified until almost 1 May.
Separate names with a comma.
