Hey,

So I just received a 4-year NROTC scholarship to UVA. However, I just read in the booklet that they will not grant a medical waiver for any color vision issues in their program. I applied to the USNA and got that medical exam, where I was deemed to have a color vision deficiency.

1. I do not think I have one at all, as I saw my optometrist after and he did not find one.
2. If the ROTC authorities deem me disqualified, is there any other way I can go about getting myself qualified (appeals, a second exam, anything.....)?

Thanks!

I would suggest getting at least one more exam and sending that info in. Even doctors can make mistakes. My DS ran into issues after a military exam said he had an umbilical hernia. I took him to a specialist to get the surgey and the doc looked at us like we were crazy. He did not have a hernia, but something called an umbilical root which is normal. An MRI proved it. The surgeon wrote up a report. We sent that and the MRI in, and the situation was dropped.
