How long does the NROTC Marine option recommendation form take to complete and what are you supposed to write about in it? I am about to ask a teacher and a coach for recommendations and I wanted to give them an idea of what they would be doing and how long it would take.

The request for recommendation will be sent directly from the Marine Corps to the teachers/coach you identify on your application. The request contains all info your teachers need to complete and submit.

You will not see the recommendations.

The best thing you can do is complete your on-line application, which triggers the request to your teachers.

Give your teachers a heads-up that the request is coming, what it's for and why you selected them.

To give them a sense of urgency, you will have to know where you are in the application process. Last cycle, the USMC held two boards: Nov and Feb. In order for your package to be briefed at the board, you will need to be done with your on-line application, taken a PFT, and made it through the interview. Your USMC "briefer" needs to have your high school transcripts, standardized test scores, and recommendations in advance of the board. So, the longer it takes you to hit the "send" button on your application, the less time it gives your teachers to complete recommendations.

I do not know what information teachers are asked to provide. I can tell you for certain that leadership/ leadership potential is the #1 thing we are looking for.

Hope this helps.
