I will be a senior in high school in the fall and am in the process of filling out my scholarship application. When I first started filling it out I got a generic email telling me who my coordinator was but that’s it. Am I supposed to contact him or does he contact me after I submit my online scholarship application? Also would the PFT and interview be schedule after the online application is submitted?

Take the first step and reach out to the College NROTC/MO contact.
The Marines did not get their reputation by standing around waiting for contact, so they will most likely appreciate your initiative.

DS is currently a MIDN 2/C (Junior) MO. After applying, he received an email with contact information for his OSO (Officer Selection Officer). After making contact, the OSO connected him with a Staff Sgt. in the recruiting office who worked with him through the entire process. He's a few pieces of advice: stay on top of the paperwork and deadlines, prepare hard for the PFT, try to work out with the DEP pool (enlisted candidates waiting for basic training), & study for the selection board interview.

Did he contact his OSO or any other coordinator after he completely submitted the online application or before submitting it.

He contacted the OSO after submitting the application.

By the way, submit your application early so you are reviewed at the first board. The Marine Corps only has two review boards each year.

My son contacted the local recruiter before submitting the application but they did not help all that much. I think the amount of assistance you receive varies depending on which office you’re dealing with. Before submitting the app online he dropped a copy off with the recruit guy, who just took it and said ok great, thanks. Once he submitted the app online he got info re the captain who would do his interview but that was all still scheduled by the recruit Sgt, who mainly kept in touch with son via text. The only contact he had with the Captain was his interview, which was conducted the same day as his PFT. I would echo the advice given above: stay on top of the paperwork and read it fully (there’s a lot of it), submit in time for first board, and do everything you can to get as close to a 300 on the PFT that you can. Good luck!

Quick question. Are the NROTC Scholarship LOR's electronically completed, meaning I just plug in my teachers email address and be done with it, or do I need to contact a recruiter, get the forms, and then send them directly to my teacher.

When my DS applied last year, the teachers and guidance counselor portions had to be picked up physically by the recruiter from the school. My DS had a great recruiter, so it got done pretty fast.

I'm currently living overseas, so I can't meet a recruiter directly. I guess I can email a recruiter designated to my region?
