DD's status updated today to the following:

Application has been submitted online

Your application is Board Ready and Pending a Decision.

Your application is at the Marine Corps District for Board Selection.
Items waiting to be processed:

Is there any significance to this? Does this just mean it has been boarded but no decision yet?

This was the same process last year. It means DD has been boarded to the district for review, but there is no decision. Keep waiting, cross your fingers and hope for a telephone call in early December.

DS was selected during last year's early board so feel free to PM if you have any questions.

My son found out during his Christmas break 2 years ago. Varies from Marine Corps District to district as to how the notification comes.

The fall 2015 Marine option board results were published to NETFOCUS and the individual NROTC units on 11 DEC 15.

Less than 4 year NROTC Scholarships seems to be the best kept secret out there these days.

Neighbor has 2 sons attending PSU on 3 Year NROTC Scholarships (1 NROTC, 1 NROTC MO) after both just missed USNA appointments from HS.

My daughter was informed yesterday that she has been awarded a three year Marine scholarship. She's a freshman at a SMC. Could not be more proud of my future Marine Officer!!!
Congratulations to you and your DD! How is she liking the SMC experience?

My DS status only says:

It does not say anything about items waiting to be processed.
I know that the recruiter helping him through the process was submitting everything through their office.
My DS took full control with the guidance he received. He has his medical examine tomorrow. I assume we now just wait...
Does anyone know how they are told if they receive the scholarship...email, updated portal, recruiting office?
We have NO experience with any of this.

For my DD, she is a freshman at a SMC. She was told in person by the Marine Colonel at the SMC, and the next day it was announced to the Marine unit when the Colonel from OCS at Quantico was there to give a talk. They had my DD stand up and the scholarship was announced.

How cool is that?!?! :)

Amazing! I sent you a message.

@EOD/SEALmom I remember you asking questions about your daughters process last year...that's such an awesome result! Both SMC and a scholarship! Hard work pays off you must be so proud. Congratulations!

Ha ha, YES!!! It was right around this time last year the we first heard about the SMC's....and her whole path was changed. We could not be happier for her!

We have NO experience with any of this.

My son received a phone call from the CO of the RS in our state over Christmas break. His portal status didn't change until several weeks after that. I believe based upon reading that each RS can notify differently.

I was notified on Dec 17 of 2015 by my regional OSO. It was during school but my teacher let me take the call fortunately, I proceeded to immediately call my mom.

Currently a MO Mid, so if anyone has questions about life in a battalion (and on a college campus) let me know.

My son was told that he would be contacted for a medical appointment if he was awarded the scholarship . Is this how it is done? My Junior at Norwich received a 4 yr NROTC MO scholarship as a freshman at Norwich. He had already done the medical stuff for his Naval Academy application. So we are in the dark about how medical works for this son.

Yes. If he did a DODMERB physical as part of USNA admissions and he was found qualified within the last two years, he will not need to repeat the process; DODMERB qualification for USNA and NROTC is the same. He'll need to provide a copy of the letter to his advisor or talk to his advisor about contacting DODMERB if he no longer has record of it.

As you know USNA triggers the DODMERB process when the application is about 50% complete. NROTC triggers the DOBMERB process after a scholarship is awarded. DODMERB is good for 2 years.
