DS did his NROTC interview yesterday and only has final junior year transcript to submit( which his guidance office will not do until next week at earliest, senior transcript mailings come first) to complete his package. It's all over but the waiting now, which will be the hardest part. We will be starting the AFROTC package next month as well as USNA ( already official candidate due to NASS) and USAFA packages. He has an appointment to talk to senetor on Thurs. His Plan A is NROTC at VT and PLAN B is USNA. I know this is backwards for most but he may change his mind after going to NASS next week.

Not everyone wants to live the SA life, and there is nothing weird about it. DS opted AFROTC over the AFA because he did not want that lifestyle, nor did he want the academic curriculum they offered for his degree.

I am a little shocked that the senator is starting the interview process this early since most will not nominate until October.

The senator in question is a friend of friend, sounds bad but will take any advantage we can, he is coming to our rural area on a tour and is meeting with our son while he is here.

I would have your DS discuss how his nom process works. I.E. nomination committee/interview, principal, rank, competitive, amount of candidates, number of slates he will have this yr., etc.

Very competitive states typically will interview the candidate.
